The current update is that Vijay, Jiiva and Illeana have been confirmed to act in the movie. The grapevine is abuzz that Vinay Rai will play one of the three main characters in the Tamil remake of the Hindi blockbuster 3 Idiots. “It’s true that I was approached for Madhavan’s role,” reveals Vinay, “I saw the original in Hindi and loved every bit of the film. Moreover, I am a big fan of Shankar sir and working with him would be a dream come true for me. But when I analysed the role, I realised that it was not quite meaty. So, after couple of days, I got back to the production team and told them that I cannot take it up, ” clarifies Vinay. The actor is currently busy shooting for an untitled project opposite Sharmila Mandre, who is making her debut in Tamil with this film. “She is pretty and it’s great working with her. Madhesh is directing this commercial potboiler. It’s quite some time since I did a Tamil film and frankly speaking, I didn’t get many good scripts. This film has a lot of comedy and it was great fun working with seasoned comedians like Santhanam and Ganja Karuppu,” says Vinay, who is also busy with a Telugu project, Veela, opposite Nisha Aggarwal. “Nisha felt that I shared a great chemistry with Kajal in Modhi Vilayadu and that ’s the reason she would like to work with me. I am still teasing her saying that she should ask her entire family to act with me, ” he quips.

Vijay who is known for his love stories on screen is back with Siddique’s Kaavalan, a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster hit Bodyguard. It’s been a while since we saw Vijay in movies like Kadhalukku Mariyathai, Kushi, Thullatha Manamum Thullum and Priyamanavale. After Ghilli proved to be successful at the box office, Vijay decided to do more action oriented roles. But his recent releases such as Kuruvi, Vettaikaaran and Sura didn’t generate the collections they were expected to. It is true to an extent that Suriya and Jayam Ravi have taken a large share of the family audience. This is because both Vijay and Ajith concentrated more on satisfying their fans rather than the general audience by playing characters labeled as ‘mass heroes’.
With Kaavalan, Vijay is confident that he will once more be the numero uno as far as box office collections are concerned. Kaavalan is a movie which Vijay was supposed to do long time back, but he had to keep postponing it. But, thanks to director Siddique it has happened now. The movie has all the ingredients that are required for a family entertainer including an excellent screenplay, foot-tapping songs by Vidyasagar and amazing performances by Vijay and Asin that will steal your heart!
Kaavalan will re-create the comedy magic of Vijay and Vadivelu that we saw in Friends. The comedy will be a roller-coaster fun filled ride for the audience and will tickle their bones!
Produced by Ramesh Babu, the movie will be released by director Shakthi Chidambaram’s Cinema Paradise. The movie which was slated for a Deepavali release, will now hit the screens in December. The audio launch is scheduled for mid of November.

Vijay's Kavalan distribution rights have been sold bot in the Indian and overseas markets. Earlier reports stated Tantra Films has acquired the overseas distribution rights of Kavalan. Vijay's Kavalan was expected to be bought for a lesser prices than usual due to the average performance of his previous films. 

But, Tantra Films have bought the distribution rights for a higher price. Following the overseas market, the domestic rights were also sold at a higher price too. Speaking about the movie Vijay said “It will have action, romance and humour at right mix. I admire director Siddique, who has a firm grip on the story. It is not a raw action film as the title would suggest. Like my past movies, there would be romance in it. Asin has done her best. Vadivelu will bring the roof down with laughter”.

Kavalan hasn't fallen for any negative criticism until now.  Asin - Vijay combo, Vijay – Siddique combo, Vadivelu and the awareness of Bodyguard's success in Malayalam are considered to be the positive points for Kavalan.We wishes Ilayathalapathy Vijay for the success of Kavalan.

The lates update regarding Ilayathalapathy Vijay's KAVALAN is that, Vijay is right now busy dubbing his voice for the movie and expectations are soaring higher day by day as the release date is getting closer and the movie is all set to be released in December. The movie is almost completed with just one song remaining which would be shot in some exotic foreign locales. Confusions are rounding up,regarding the day when the audio of the movie would be launched. But news regarding the audio is still kept under wraps and nothing is confirmed officially as of now, except that the audio is all confirmed to be released anytime next week. 

Since this news came, all fans have started to throng their nearby audio shops inquiring about the exact release date. Vidya Sagar has composed the music and since being a love story, all songs are expected to be melodies and peppy numbers which would attract the youth.

“It can be said that Vijay’s character in the film, which is soft and lively, could remind the roles he played in ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’, ‘Thullatha Manamum Thullum’ and ‘Friends’,” sources further say.

“At the same time, there will be enough scope for action,” they say and add: “Because, director Siddique has made little changes to the original story keeping in mind the action hero image of Vijay.”

A remake of Malayalam hit ‘Bodyguard’, the other two strengths of ‘Kavalan’ are Vadivelu and Asin. “Besides, Vidyasagar’s music is also going to be one of the highlights of the movie,” sources conclude.

Vijay’s ‘Kaavalan’ is finally completed and the post production works have started now. Although Vijay’s previous films were big flops in Tamil Nadu, this film has been sold out for a record-breaking price in overseas. Producer Sakthi Chidambaram, who acquired the rights of this film instantly wanted to release the film’s music in Malaysia.

However, Vijay being a simple person insisted that the audio launch shall be done in Chennai itself just to avoid unwanted publicities for the film. It isreported that Vijay will honor music director Vidhyasagar as ‘Kaavalan’ is his 245th film. According to the sources, the film’s music is expected to be launched on November 14
.

When the Kavalan team was shooting in Kerala, they happened to visit the palace where Manichithirathal (Chandramukhi original) was shot.Immediately, the director of Kavalan, Siddique, decided to can a shot in the palace for the sake of sentiment. Manichithirathal turned out to be a blockbuster and the film was remade in Tamil and Kannada. The Tamil version, Chandramukhi had Rajinikath playing the lead and it went on to become a super duper hit.

The scene was shot by cinematographer N. K. Ekambaram on the film’ s lead pair Vijay and Asin and is said to have come out well. Kavalan is expected to be released on December 24th, 2010.

Velayutham: Commercial entertainer

After completing Kaavalan, Ilayathalapathy Vijay is currently busy with Jayam Raja's Velayutham, produced by Aascar Ravichandran. Genelia and Hansika Motwani play the female leads.

Meanwhile director Raja has confirmed to Galatta.com that Velayutham will be an out-an-out commercial entertainer which will be a treat for audiences. He also revealed that the film is shaping up well.

Interesting, this is Jayam Raja's first original script!

Director Shankar over the moon as magnum opus Endhiran, drawing crowds in all the versions. The trade analysts have predicted that there will be house-packed shows for the next three weeks. The filmmaker was recently in Mumbai for the promotion of the Hindi version, The Robot and screened the film for the Bollywood celebrities.

He happened to shake hands with the team of 3 Idiots makers (producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, director Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan) as they walked on the red carpet premiere of The Robot. Shankar was reported of getting some tips from the team, as it happens to be the first remake project in Shankar’s career.
Earlier, Shankar had approached Madhavan and Silambarasan to perform the lead roles alongside Vijay. But as they turned down the offer, Shankar has finally confirmed Jeeva and Siddarth for the roles. Shankar’s closer sources report that Jeeva will be enacting Madhavan’s role while Sharman Joshi’s character will be performed by Siddarth. Harris Jayaraj will score music to the lyrics of Vairamuthu and Manoj Paramahamsa has been signed to handle the cinematography.
Shankar has plans of completing the film’s shooting within a span of 6 months as producers want the film to be released in the summer vacations of 2011. But the director is yet to find Miss Idiot.

VELAYUDHAM 2ND SCHEDULE

The latest update regarding the shoot of Vijay�s current movie KAAVALAN is that, the shooting had got over with only one song pending, In the mean time, Vijay has moved over with the VELAYUDHAM team for the second schedule at Pollachi, wherein the shooting would be continued for 20 days. After the second schedule, Vijay and Kaavalan would be going abroad, for the song shoot. 
 
Audio of Kaavalan is all set to be expected to be released in November 1st week. Vijay had worked really hard for each and every scene and is very sure to strike back as the box office king with kaavalan.
